Student Opportunity and Achievement Retreat (SOAR)

Corporate Presentations

Each Spring, our 20 top members out of 100+ travel to a major local city and receive presentations from leading companies and officials in that region. This is a very valuable visit for both our members and the companies that welcome it. In the past, we've even had members receive interview requests as a result of this corporate visit. Many of our members end up applying for internships and full-time positions with the companies that they have had an opportunity to visit and learn about. Some cities we've previously visited for SOAR include Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, and Nashville, and we've visited companies such as KPMG, SunTrust, Raymond James, American Airlines, Sprint, and more.

During many of our general meetings, FBLS brings in the top names in business to give insightful presentations to our members. The companies often provide our members with information about job & internship opportunities. Previous companies include Grooveshark, Deloitte, KPMG and more!

Faculty-Student Luncheon

The week before advanced registration starts, FBLS hosts Faculty Lunch for the WCBA.  Students have the opportunity to meet professors from around the business school (including some of those that you've only seen online!) in an informal setting.  Students can ask our professors and advisors questions about classes or about the business field in general.  And, of course, a free catered lunch is included. The Faculty-Student Luncheon won Outstanding Program of the Year for 2013!

Each semester FBLS organizes co-ed intramural flag football, softball, soccer, and more. These teams compete in weekly games against other student groups. Participating in intramural sports is a great way to get introduced to other members and form great friendships. Look on the "Calendar" page for play dates and times.

Community Involvement

A part of being a great leader means giving back to your community. At FBLS, we give back by volunteering at local establishments such as the Humane Society and the St. Francis Homeless Shelter. We also work concessions at various UF sporting events.

Networking is a key in business, but it should also be fun.  Our socials provide ample opportunities to meet FBLS members and members of other organizations in a relaxing environment. We hold multiple club socials and arrange special socials with other organizations throughout the year.
